I was annoyed to see that all the add-ons to BF2 don't count toward the Veteran status. My BF2142 login doesn't seem to work either and I don't feel like loading up the game jsut to recover my password. I need to dig my BFV game case out and try that code next... _________________

Correction: Apparently I forgot that I sold my BF:V game... Now I can either try the Heroes website like Whiskey mentioned or I get to load BF2142 just to retrieve my login info.......what was that webpage again? _________________

thanks whiskey ... i've got veteran status and i see the garand in the weapons menu when i look at my stats (it has a star next to it, but it isn't available to use)
hopefully, this means i've got it
overall, i really like this game ... a lot. more of a learning experience that the call of duty games and it forces you to think through situations. one thing for sure, you can't get too comfortable anywhere on the maps ... someone always finds you and you will die.
my comp is decent, but i can only run it smoothly at the lowest graphics setting ... and it still rocks graphically! _________________

Check out this EXCELLENT video montage of BFBC2. I especially loved the chopper stuff...reminded me of flying with Sarge back in BF2 (I think he would've loved this game).

So what does everyone think so far?
I give it 1 thumb up, especially after the COD fiasco.
The only thing I wish for is more BIG maps. The game really seems focused on ground pounding. There are no jets, no choppers, and few tanks/apc's etc on some maps - not all. Seems like a whole new game when comparing it to BF2. I really hope that this changes, I miss riding shotgun.
That said, I am enjoying the game and am slowly getting up to speed. Medic rocks! _________________

I love the game so far, but it's not without it's faults. Even more than BF2 did, it feels like you are really in combat. The sounds and environment minutia blow away the COD games. There does not seem to be as much stat whoring as in BF2, which turned me off that game often. Vehicles are also much better. Much less unbeatable airplane and heli pilots just camping bases.
My biggest gripe so far is the Recon class. How many snipers does one team need for Conquest battles? I mean really? I don't know how many times I've died over and over trying to capture a base alone and realize my entire team is hiding in the bushes sniping. Nothing like a team of two dozen snipers on Conquest or Rush. _________________

Yeah, right now, there's way too many sniper whores in this game...especially on the Attacker side! Seriously...a couple snipers to help clear a path, fine. But when the majority of attackers are sniping, how in the blue hell do they expect to blow a crate or cap a flag? I hope this is a short term thing, as maybe people are just trying to get a lot of their sniper unlocks out of the way first.
It's just like the "How not to be a noob in BFBC2" video..."I'm a sniper! I'm a sniper! I'm a sniper!". _________________ Pete

I love the whoosh sound that simulates your ears popping from a really close explosion. Very nice touch with that.
I have actually gotten pretty good at being a "running" sniper. The main thing I love about the sniper class is the 1 shot power of the weapons (at least in HC mode.) It's like the old MOH:SH days for me when we all learned how to fire single shots with the rifles and take down the guys who emptied half their SMG before hitting you. If you can bring that scope up quickly and fire off a shot you can often kill the guy before they can get the 2-3 hits needed with their weapon. Players need to learn to be "running" snipers in this game since staying put for more than about 30 seconds will usually end up getting you killed.
Overall though, I've been mostly balanced in my classes. I tend to play each of them about the same. For defense, I'm usually a Recon or Engineer and for offense I normally take Assault or Medic. I think the Medic is probably my least played class so far just because I can't hit much with those heavy MGs. _________________

i like the engineer class best ... it seems to have the best of all worlds for me ... good offensive weapons (SCAR) and a variety of anti-tank weapons plus the repair tool. i like being a passenger in an armoured vehicle so i can hop out, repair and get back on the machine gun.
i use the sniping class only to get the perks (trying to get 12x opt now) ... the mortar is a nice feature
the game is fun, but it has its quirks ... i feel like i die too easily, but killing an opponent is difficult, even at close range. the grenades seem useless (i don't like the fireball aspect of them either). it also takes forever to level (which isn't necessarily bad, but all my opponents appear to be playing 24/7 with the levels i see) _________________

I am really liking this game more and more.
I tend to use the Medic class most and try to join a squad. Seems that in tight the LMG is very inaccurate, but deadly at midrange. Go figure. I am finding that hanging back a bit and supporting is working alot better than trying to clear or capture at the front or alone. I hate the sniper class. I can't hang back, it just seems too boring and pointless(objective wise). _________________

Apparently, the LMG's gain accuracy the longer you fire. I've found that single shots can work really well over long distances (kinda like sniping), but short bursts may not work so well. Try a bit of sustained fire over short/med distances, and see if you notice anything.
As far as sni, uh...recon class goes once you unlock it, try to equip the Thompson SMG and play more as a sneaky special ops soldier behind enemy lines. You can be very involved in fighting that way. And still have your devastating C4.
This game has so many layers, so much depth...I love it. _________________ Pete

I think I experienced that the other night and knocked off three guys with the trigger held. I thought maybe it was just dam lucky. I have also tried the single shot and it is surpisingly accurate at a far distance. Problem is you need 3 or 4 hits to knock someone down. I have recently switched to the red dot and it seems to be much more accurate than the optical zoom unlock for mid range anyways. The beautiful thing is - there are so many combinations to fool around with that I can't imagine getting bored anytime soon. _________________

Forgot to mention...along with the Thompson, the Recon class can also be quite effective in CQB defending or attacking a building when equipped with an auto (not pump-action) shotgun. Those things are deadly. Sweep in, shottie anyone in the building, put C4 on the crate and/or building, set teh charge, vamoose, and watch the fireworks from a distance. _________________ Pete

I'm going to try that tonight. I rarely use my C4 when I snipe.
In hardore, is there a way to tell if someone is trying to defuse without watching the crate? _________________
